Back Foot Defence

On which ball to play :-

Back defensive shot is played on deliveries which are pitched just behind good length spot on stumps or around 4th stump and bounced enough to reach around batsmen’s waist level.

Key Points ;-
  • back foot should move back & cross to get in line of coming ball
  • Top hand elbow should be taken high at the time of contact
  • Top hand grip will remain firm while Bottom hand grip should be relaxed
  • Contact with ball should be made right under head and close to body keeping side on position
Check List:-
  • back foot not back and cross
  • top hand elbow not sufficiently high
  • Bottom Hand grip tight
